Information and communication technologies improve the whole life cycle of health issues, from prevention through diagnosis to treatment, monitoring and management of health and lifestyle. The digitalisation of the healthcare sector forms part of the EU’s Digital Single Market strategy and has enormous potential.
In 2018, the European Commission adopted a Communication and a Staff Working Document on Digital transformation of health and care in the Digital Single Market to boost European Union action and provide EU citizens with access to safe and top quality digital services in health and care.
